Description

The Lithium-Ion Battery Charger/Laser Pointer(A2062) is made on a printed circuit board which can be cut to fit all variations of the BCAMs(i.e. black, blue, azi, polar). The circuit has two functions: one, provide power and on/off switch for a laser; two, lithium-ion battery charger.

Functions

This device is an installation tool which can help to quickly give a visual indication of where a BCAM is pointing. The A2062 replaces the lens in a BCAM with a laser. This laser than gives a visual indication of where the CCD is pointing. The laser power on the A2062 is derived from a lithium-ion rechargeable battery. There is an RJ-45 connector which when plugged into a LWDAQ driver will provide power to recharge the battery.

How to Use the A2062

The A2062 in all variations of BCAMs provides an on/off switch located on the top of the BCAM which turns the laser power on and off. To recharge the battery, simply plug a CAT-5 cable from the LWDAQ driver into the BCAM.

Battery Charge/Discharge

The Fuji NP-40 lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 500mAh. When on, the laser drains the battery at approximately 30mA per hour. Thus, we expect the laser will run for 15 hours or so. With the laser turned off, the A2062 still consumes some power and so left without recharging, the battery will run out of charge. The A2062 uses a buck converter and a current regulator to provide constant current for the battery. Using the buck converter, the A2062 can provide 350mA per hour to charge the battery, while consuming only 200mA per hour from the LWDAQ driver. The battery can be expected to be fully charged after 2-3 hours.
